The mission of Lazarus Ministries KC is to offer unlimited compassion while providing for the unmet needs of Kansas City’s urban core. We bring hope and opportunity to those in need and work toward solutions for homelessness and food insecurity.

HISTORICAL SNAPSHOT

Lazarus Ministries KC was founded in 1996, serving 10,000 meals in our first year. As the needs of our community have grown, our vision has expanded to fill in those gaps. In 2009, Lazarus Ministries KC became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in order to better position the organization to expand the programs serving our community. After 20 years downtown, we moved to Linwood United Church to continue to make an impact on the lives of our community members. While our mission remains the same since the beginning of our journey, with the help of our dedicated volunteers and generous supporters, our services have extended beyond providing hot meals.

WHAT WE DO

We provide hope and dignity, offer opportunity, and stand as a resource for neighbors who are in need of compassion and a helping hand. Many of our guests are homeless, don’t know where their next meal will come from, can’t provide winter clothing for their growing children, or don’t own a toothbrush. From offering clothing to a mom and her children, to serving hot meals to hungry veterans, we strive to better the lives of those in need through our services at Lazarus Table and Lazarus Boutique. Our services go above and beyond hot meals and items of need, as we strive to help our neighbors get back on their feet and live an independent life that they deserve. We have social workers on-site who provide access to valuable resources, so that our gueses have all the tools they need to thrive.
